Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery Add Beyoncé Portrait Permanently To Their Collection.

Back in 2018, photographer Tyler Mitchell broke records as the first black photographer to shoot a cover for Vogue in the magazine's 126-year history. At 23, Mitchell was also the youngest photographer to ever shoot a Vogue cover. The subject of the photograph was Beyoncé.

Mitchell have now made headlines again while announcing on Twitter that one of the portraits that he shot at the time has now been selected as an official addition to the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery's permanent collection.

"A year ago today we broke the flood gates open," he writes on the social media platform, where he also posted the selected piece of work. "Now I'm glad to share this picture is being acquired into the Smithsonian Naitonal Portrait Gallery's permanent collection."

No word yet on when the portrait, named "See Your Halo," will be exhibited to the public.
