How Eedris Abdulkareem Got It Wrong In The Nigeria Music Industry.

In the world of entertainment, clashes between internationally renowned artists are not uncommon. A recent anecdote resurfaced during an interview with rapper Eedris Abdulkareem on the Honest Bunch podcast. He recounted a memorable incident involving American rapper 50 Cent during a music tour in Nigeria.

The dispute allegedly broke out on board a plane, concerning a business class seat. Eedris Abdulkareem had taken his place in this section, which would have angered 50 Cent’s team who claimed this place for the American rapper. A physical altercation reportedly followed, apparently captured by filmmaker DJ Tee.

The incident attracted widespread media coverage, even attracting the attention of President Obasanjo who reportedly asked the Inspector General of Police to intervene. Subsequently, Eedris Abdulkareem allegedly sought the help of Charlie Boy, then president of PMAN, to defend his rights using the recording of the altercation as evidence.

What would have surprised Eedris Abdulkareem is that Charlie Boy ultimately used the recording to negotiate a personal deal, leaving him almost defenseless. The veteran rapper claims that this episode had an impact on his career, as he was banned from Charlie Boy’s circle shortly after.

Despite the harmful consequences on his career, Eedris Abdulkareem does not regret this confrontation with 50 Cent. He believes the incident was a beneficial sacrifice for the Nigerian music industry, inspiring brands in the country to give more respect to local artists. According to him, this gesture paved the way for the global recognition of artists such as Davido, Wizkid and Burna Boy, who are today essential figures on the international music scene.

This episode, although tumultuous, perhaps served to highlight the importance of defending one’s rights and one’s integrity in a competitive industry where power struggles are not uncommon.

But with all his truth or whatever the ability to earn respect should be the upmost way and elderly person should follow thinking respect will be handled to you cause you abd elder need to be something that need to be eradicated, when you earn respect you wont need to fight for it, it will be given too you in time.
